America's Immigration Policy

Trump's inward looking protectionist policies are  definitely going to cost him in the long run.American society is a cosmopolitan one and immigrants from all over the world have contributed in economic success of this country.. Trump's decision to suspend visas for immigrants citing lakhs of unemployment for local Americans is a cunning move to woo the indigenous citizenry for the upcoming elections..
Recently America witnessed a huge upsurge against brutal killing of a black man that exposed the prejudiced mindset of American society for a particular race.. People agitated in a large number against this brutality and America was in turmoil for couple of weeks and even white people took part in large number and showed their dissent against this inhuman act.Soon this movement attracted global attention and people from every corner of the globe set out on streets and "BlackLivesMatter" became a widespread movement.
Racism has a long history in America and people like Martin Luther King fought for eradication of this evil for long. But,it is still there in people's mind..
All these happenings gave birth to a feeling of discontent among outsiders who are more likely to be victimised by racist attitude and govt supported "America First" policy.
People from almost every part of the world live in America and therefore their votes also matter in America's electoral politics. But xenophobic attitude of this govt is very terrible and disturbing for those who are in search of jobs in Dreamland of America.
From economic perspective protectionism is not a welcome move in the era of globalisation.Protectionist policies reduce the competitiveness and expansion of economy. It can be a nationalist approach but not good for an economy which is so much dependent on outside talent. These days nationalism has become a great tool to garner thumping majority and it seems Trump experimenting the same.
